CSF Fine Arts Gallery Presents Figuring Abstraction: Juanita Campos BFA Thesis Exhibition

On Friday, December 5, the CSF Fine Arts Gallery debuts Figuring Abstraction, the BFA Thesis exhibition of Juanita Campos. A study in the use of the human figure as a point of definition for picturing mental processes, Figuring Abstraction searches to locate the tension and often mystifying interplay between sensual and spiritual sensitivities.

Campos’ use of the figure and the technique of layering spontaneous brushwork and austere lines to articulate sensitivities, ground the abstract content by anchoring it and providing a point of reference for the viewer. Figuring Abstraction visually captures the boundaries of what can be understood by the five senses and what can be dimly perceived conceptually. Her paintings—a combination of acrylic, oil, pastels, India ink, and glazes—reveal the confounding perceptions of our sensual and spiritual natures. Figuring Abstraction opens on Friday, December 5th and runs through December 12th.

The Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Southwest Annex next to Fogelson Library at the College of Santa Fe.
